The venerable Windows media player Winamp has added music NFTs to its platform in its most recent release. Users of Winamp's new functionality will be able to listen to audio files that have been encoded in their non-fungible tokens.

The most recent version of the 1997-born music player Winamp enables users to connect their Metamask wallet to Winamp via the Brave, Chrome, or Firefox web browsers. Winamp is compatible with Polygon and Ethereum and supports audio and video files encoded with ERC-721 and ERC-1155.
NFTs offer a tamper-proof record of transactions involving a digital asset and demonstrate digital asset ownership. NFT enthusiasts have recently started investigating applications that connect NFTs to other digital media, such as movies, music, TV episodes, and physical assets.

Winamp CEO Alexandre Saboundjian stated in a statement, "The genesis of Winamp has always been about accessibility and innovation, and now we are happy to unveil the very first standalone player reading audio NFTs, as well as any other existing formats."

People can use a player they already enjoy to listen to any file they desire with the new version of Winamp.
A cross-platform creator service will be introduced in early 2023, according to Winamp, and its NFT support will be combined with other enhancements to make Winamp a global and sophisticated listening platform.

When mp3s revolutionized how we listen to and enjoy music, Winamp played a significant role in the first digital music invention, according to Saboundjian. As more artists discover the potential of web3, we are now funding the cutting edge of the next one.

Warner Music Group declared earlier that it would make music NFTs available through LGND, a Polygon-based marketplace.
The Royal NFT marketplace was introduced last month by musician, businessman, and music NFT lover Justin "3LAU" Blau. According to Royal, a collector who invests in songs or albums on the platform will receive a token that represents a portion of the streaming rights to the music as well as other benefits.

"You earn royalties with the artist..."

According to the Royal website, "You earn royalties with the artist and get paid when they do."
